Strengthening California’s journalism ecosystem through direct grants to news organizations.
The California Civic Media Program is a public-private partnership that invests directly in California’s state and local newsrooms. By funding the organizations doing original, fact-based journalism, the program aims to close information gaps, strengthen communities, and ensure California’s press reflects the people it serves.
Start by taking the eligibility quiz to determine whether your organization meets the program’s basic eligibility requirements. Eligible organizations can then create a profile and pre-register to receive application updates, access program resources, and prepare for the application period.

These sessions provide an overview of the program, eligibility requirements, key application steps, and available resources.
