The California Civic Media Program is a public-private partnership that invests directly in California’s state and local newsrooms. By funding the organizations doing original, fact-based journalism, the program aims to close information gaps, strengthen communities, and ensure California’s press reflects the people it serves.

Application Deadline: August 21, 2026, at 12:00 PM PT
Join program staff for weekly office hours every Tuesday at 2:00 PM PT beginning July 14. These live applicant support sessions provide an opportunity to ask questions about the application process, eligibility requirements, required materials, FTE calculations, and navigating the application portal.
Join the California Civic Media Applicant Training Webinar on August 4 at 2:00 PM PT to learn about eligibility requirements, key application steps, and available resources
Applicants will be notified this fall regarding their award status. A list of grant recipients will be published at that time.
